Energy Center

The energy transition towards a low-carbon energy supply is one of the complex tasks that politics, business and society have to master together.

With the Energy Center, Urban Innovation Vienna offers an independent competence center that supports the city of Vienna and its enterprises in achieving their ambitious energy and climate protection goals. At the same time, the Energy Center fulfills the function of a regional energy agency, as it exists in other cities and countries of Austria and Europe.

Analysis & Consulting

With analyses and advice on strategic questions as well as on concrete, project-related issues, the Energy Center supports the city on essential undertakings and initiatives in relation to energy.

With scientific know-how, it makes substantial contributions to relevant programmes and publications, such as the Municipal Energy Efficiency Programme (SEP) and the Annual Energy Report of the City of Vienna. In advising on concrete large-scale construction projects and urban development areas, impulses for innovative, environmentally-friendly energy solutions are set.

Since 2017, expert advice on mobility management measures is a new area of responsibility, supporting city departments and project developers in the planning and implementation of new construction projects.

International Cooperation

Through cooperation with European cities in market transformation and research projects, such as Urban Learning the Energy Center's expands the opportunities to benefit from international experience while spreading Vienna's progress and innovation in the energy sector at the European level.

Communication & Networking

The Energy Center acts as an interface between city, economy and science. It organises tailored exchanges of experience on innovative energy solutions - from excursions to round tables -, bringing together the different stakeholders.
